Drug Rehab Program Success Story from Narconon Arrowhead
When I first came through the doors of Narconon Arrowhead drug and alcohol treatment center, I wasn’t a bit sure what to expect. I had no idea what I was even doing here or needed to get from the program. I came here all alone and wondering. The past four months have had their ups and downs for me. But my ups have continually been higher and my lows never seemed to go as low each time. I’m to the point now where my highs are constantly very high and my lows don’t exist. I’m sure I now know the answers to all my questions. I’m now leaving the drug rehab program through the same doors I entered. This time, however, I’m not at all wondering. I’m very sure and have a sense of purpose and I know I will remain drug-free, now. M.S.
Opium Addiction
Opium
addiction has a long history.
It was a problem in the 1850’s when morphine was developed as a non-addictive substitute.
Morphine was soon a bigger
addiction problem than opium.
The morphine problem was ‘solved’ with another opium derivative – Heroin, which proved to be even more addictive than either morphine or opium. In the middle and latter parts of the 20th century along come methadone as the cure for heroin.
You guessed it, methadone is stronger, more addictive, and more life threatening than any of the opium derivatives that came before it. Ask any methadone addict, or addiction professional dealing with
methadone addiction and withdrawal. By the 1990’s the mortality rate from opium derivatives was estimated to be 20 times greater than the general population.

12 step

Heroin is a highly addictive illegal drug. During the 1800’s opium
addiction was a major problem in the U.S.
Morphine was developed as supposedly a non-addictive substitute for opium but proved to be even more addictive.
The same is true of Heroin which was a supposedly non addictive replacement for morphine, but again is actually more addictive than opium or morphine.
In more modern times we know have methadone as a supposed ‘solution’ to heroin addiction.
Methadone is even more addictive than heroin. If withdrawal from heroin can be gruesome and harrowing, then methadone is even worse and can be life- threatening if unsupervised.
Drug
addiction treatment to be effective needs to help and guide the individual in confronting and gaining the skills and abilities needed to resolve all areas of their lives – not merely ceasing their
drug use which is only the beginning. Personal issues of nutrition and gaining a healthy balance need to be addressed.
Issues of cravings, quilt, and depression resulting from
addiction need confronted and relieved, legal issues often exist.
Broken or strained relationships in the family and workplace need resolved.
The issue of how the addict gets on with his life in a drug free and productive manner, and be happy and fulfilled doing so, can be one of the biggest issues of all.
Addicts and alcoholics are often quite concerned about being miserable and suffering without the drugs or alcohol. Narconon Arrowhead is an empowering program that assists the individual in resolving each of these situations as well as others he or she may have. We don’t enforce or insist rather we help, guide, and assist the individual in finding their own unique answers that will work and more importantly continue to work for them.
